SMS Consent Requirements
Last updated: September 8, 2026
Handler Systems LLC (“Handler”) provides an AI-assisted client-communication service used by professional dog-training businesses to answer their own clients' questions and manage appointments by SMS. Every person who receives a text message through Handler is an existing client or an active inquiry of the dog-training business they contacted. This page publishes the consent language that each business must collect from its clients before that business adds them to Handler. It is a requirement of our service, not a suggestion.
Required consent language
A dog-training business that enrolls its own clients must obtain written consent on its client intake form, service agreement, or an equivalent written record before any client is added to Handler. The consent must be given by an affirmative action by the client — a checkbox that is not pre-checked, or a signature — and must present the following language, with the business's own name in place of [Business Name]:
I agree to receive SMS text messages from [Business Name] about scheduling, reminders, and dog-training questions. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. See our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Agreeing to receive messages is never a condition of purchasing or using any service. The intake form must submit successfully with the consent box left unchecked, and the business must say so in plain words next to it.
Other ways clients consent
Besides written intake consent, a client may consent in these ways, each of which we honor identically:
- Public web form — the client checks a separate, pre-unchecked SMS consent box on our public contact form at handlersystems.com/contact. The phone field is optional and the form submits without it.
- Consumer-initiated — the client texts the business's published number first with a question about training, scheduling, pricing, or facility policies. We reply conversationally only to that person, in that thread.
- Keyword — the client texts START to the business number and receives a confirmation stating message frequency, that message and data rates may apply, and STOP/HELP instructions.
Message types, frequency, and rates
Messages are two-way conversational customer care and transactional scheduling: replies to inbound questions about training programs, pricing, policies and scheduling, and appointment confirmations, reminders and reschedule notices for sessions the client has booked.
There is no marketing or promotional content, no cold outreach, and no purchased or rented lists. Volume is low and conversations are client-initiated.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan.
Opting out and getting help
Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Opt-outs are honored immediately and the recipient receives a confirmation. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us through our contact page.
We never sell or share mobile numbers
We do not sell or share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for marketing. Consent to receive SMS messages is not shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Limited information is shared with our messaging provider only as needed to deliver messages, and that provider is not permitted to use it for its own marketing.
Consent records
Each dog-training business using Handler attests that it holds valid consent for every client it enrolls. Consent records are retained by that business and produced on request. Handler may suspend a business's messaging if it cannot produce them.
